Common questions

Short answers on what llms.txt is, how this tool works, and where the file belongs.

What is an llms.txt file?

llms.txt is a proposed standard: a plain markdown file at the root of your domain that gives AI systems a clean, curated index of your most important pages. It starts with an H1 site name, a one-line summary blockquote, then sections of links. Think of it as a sitemap written for language models instead of search crawlers.

Does this tool send my data anywhere?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored, or sent to a server, so you can draft your file privately and copy the result when it looks right.

Where do I put the file once it is generated?

Save the output as a file named llms.txt and host it at the root of your domain, so it resolves at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt. Keep links absolute, point them at your strongest pages, and update the file whenever your key content changes.

Will llms.txt make my site rank in ChatGPT or Google?

On its own, no. Google does not currently use llms.txt, and adoption across AI tools is uneven. It is one low-cost signal in a broader GEO strategy that also covers structured data, crawler access, and citable content. Publishing one is cheap insurance, not a ranking switch.
